Wall Street Is Loading Up in Public
At the time I am recording this, ETH has not yet crossed $4,000, but it is very close. A 25% weekly jump has everyone asking the same question: who is actually buying? The answer is no longer a mystery. Institutions are accumulating openly, and the numbers are hard to ignore.
July 16 was wild. ETF inflows hit 700 million dollars in a single day, a new record. The very next day, they reached 727 million, pushing total inflows past the 2 billion mark. Since then, we have passed 2.3 billion in net inflows, and the pace is barely slowing. BlackRock alone scooped up almost half a billion dollars worth of ETH in one go, increasing its ETH position by 18% in a day. For the first time, they are moving more money into Ethereum than into Bitcoin on that particular day.
That tells me something important. In the eyes of these financial giants, Ethereum is no longer a high risk gamble. It is starting to look like a serious core holding, similar to gold or Bitcoin. With the whole world possibly heading into a rate cut cycle, smart money is searching for new stores of value, and ETH has become one of the obvious picks.
Supply Is Drying Up: What I Saw in the Order Book
I had a personal experience recently that sums up the current market perfectly. I decided to add a bit more ETH to my own stack. Nothing huge, because I already hold a lot. But when I went to buy, the order book was paper thin. The price jumped almost instantly as I placed my order. Liquidity depth right now is the lowest it has been since the first quarter of 2022, and that is verifiable onchain. There is barely any ETH available for sale.
That was not just my imagination. If you check the onchain data, it lines up exactly. ETH balances on centralized exchanges are back to levels we have not seen since before the 2024 bull run even started. At the time I am recording, only around 10% to 11.2% of total ETH supply is sitting on exchanges, and that number keeps dropping. It is the lowest in over five years. This is classic accumulation.
On top of that, the number of wallets holding over 10,000 ETH is rising again for the first time since early 2021. That type of trend only appears when serious conviction returns. A few months ago, most people were trash talking ETH. Now the tone has completely changed.
Scarcity Meets Yield: Ethereum as the Digital Super Bond
Put these two forces together: institutions throwing hundreds of millions into buy orders, and less and less ETH available on the market. The result is simple supply and demand. But there is something even more interesting building here. Scarcity plus yield. Those two factors are turning ETH into what I like to call the super bond of the digital world.
Ethereum protects your value, it grows over time, and it gives you a yield through staking. Ask yourself, what part of that would Wall Street not love? They are already pushing for staking ETFs, and they are pushing for clearer regulation across the entire crypto market. That is not a coincidence. The institutional playbook is being written right now, and Ethereum is at the center of it.
Regulatory Clarity: Three Bills That Changed the Game
Last week, after some drama involving Republican senators and a lot of political noise, three major bills passed. The GENIUS Act, the CLARITY Act, and the Anti-CBDC Act. Together they clarified three key points.
First, stablecoins now get an official licensing system, which means you can finally see whose money you can trust. Second, there is now a clear definition of who is in charge of crypto oversight. No more regulatory chaos. Third, and maybe the biggest one for us, the government is blocked from launching its own digital dollar to compete with crypto.
This is massive because until those rules are clear, the biggest and most conservative money on Wall Street will not fully commit. Now they can. That is a structural change, not a short term catalyst.
- Stablecoin issuers receive a clear licensing framework
- Regulatory responsibility for crypto oversight is now defined
- A government issued digital dollar is blocked, protecting private crypto innovation
The Road to $4,000: Resistance and Healthy Shakeouts
I believe Ethereum will face a major test in the $3,800 to $4,000 range. There are two types of sellers waiting there. First, people who got trapped at the top during the last bear market. They have been stuck for so long that they just want to break even and breathe again. Their mindset is completely different from long term holders like me, whose cost basis is often a fraction of theirs.
Second, short term traders who accumulated ETH around $3,000 always planned to cash out near resistance, which is exactly around $4,000. So when we first touch that range, or even the second time, or if ETF inflows slow down a bit, we might see some chop or even a pullback. That is totally fine.
Actually, if ETH just flew past resistance without any shakeout, I would be worried. Corrections are not just normal, they are healthy and necessary. That $4,000 resistance does not look like a wall anymore. It looks more like a speed bump.
Ethereum at 10: A Personal Milestone and the Next Decade
July 30th is almost here, and that means Ethereum turns 10 years old. Some of my ETH bags go back to when the price was in two and three digits. They have been through crashes, rallies, you name it. To be honest, my portfolio can now swing more in one day than I used to make in an entire year. That is how far this asset has come.
For me, this anniversary is not just a birthday. It is a milestone and the start of Ethereum's next decade. The fundamentals have never looked better: institutional adoption, vanishing supply, staking yield, and now clearer US regulation. I think breaking past $4,000 is just a matter of time.
Bottom Line: This Move Is Bigger Than a Price Target
I am not calling a specific price target today. What I am showing you is that this rally is built on stronger foundations than previous ones. Wall Street is accumulating in public. Exchange supply is at multi year lows. Whales are coming back. And the regulatory fog is finally clearing.
Yes, we may see pullbacks around $3,800 to $4,000, but those are healthy and expected. If you are still trash talking ETH, I invite you to look at the data. If you are adding to your bags, your timing may be better than you think. And if you are quietly setting up a sell order, just remember what you are selling into: one of the cleanest supply and demand setups Ethereum has ever had.
The next decade for Ethereum starts now.
