The noise around Bitcoin has never been louder
In the Bitcoin world you hear all kinds of opinions. Michael Saylor says he will keep buying no matter the price. Jamie Dimon, JPMorgan's CEO, has called Bitcoin a total scam. Jack Dorsey has warned that if Bitcoin is only a store of value and not used for everyday payments, it is doomed to fail.
I've met investors with wildly different takes. Some, like me, believe Bitcoin's value is limitless. Others tell me straight up they think it will crash and burn. But some of those same people have poured billions into it. They say it will fade, yet they don't see it disappearing anytime soon.
There's a strange contradiction in all of this, and that's why I want to share a more personal reflection. I'm a hardcore decentralization advocate, an early Bitcoin holder, and a YouTuber deep in blockchain and crypto. Today I'm going to be real with you: Bitcoin may and will disappoint you in some way.
The old macro order is cracking
We are at the start of years of structural inflation. This is not a normal economic hiccup. It's a massive shift in the global monetary system. Since the 1980s, when Paul Volcker tackled high inflation and Reagan and Thatcher pushed free markets, the US enjoyed a 40-year bull market, a bond bull market, low rates, and soaring asset prices.
That golden era might just be over now. Inflation is creeping back. Trump is pushing for rate cuts, but Powell is not budging. A messy cycle is unfolding. In the coming years we could see corporate defaults, sovereign debt crises, and geopolitical tensions. It has already started. We may see wild capital flows and currencies losing value. The cracks in the old financial system are starting to show.
I've sat in meetings with Wall Street folks and seen overleveraged, cocky hedge fund managers lose it. A 4% stock market dip and they are screaming for the government to bail them out. Those reactions reveal how artificial some parts of the system have become. A genuine market adjusts and recovers on its own.
Big players are using old money to bet on new rails
Something big is brewing in the capital markets. Heavyweights like Paul Tudor Jones and Michael Saylor are borrowing cheap and betting big on Bitcoin. They are using the old system's money to invest in a new financial paradigm, one that is scarce, transparent, and tamper-proof.
Some call it a strategic allocation against central banks, playing the game to challenge the system. You also have El Salvador's president Nayib Bukele making Bitcoin legal tender, and Trump talking about Bitcoin as a crypto strategic reserve. These moves from world leaders show Bitcoin is changing the game.
Trump's policies can be confusing, but I think he's trying to help working-class Americans: create factory jobs, bring production back, tackle the deficit. Bitcoin is a part of that plan. Whether Trump fully believes in it or not, what matters is Bitcoin is shaking things up in ways we've never seen, not just with tech, but with a whole new mindset.
A crypto-savvy voice in traditional finance put it well: 'Bitcoin has aspects that are totally different from traditional assets. Its pricing doesn't follow corporate earnings or typical factors. For countries looking for long-term reserves, scarce assets like gold and Bitcoin are the obvious choices.' This goes beyond a shift in investments. It signals a deeper evolution in finance.
What Bitcoin actually represents: truth, fairness, code
A lot of people don't seem to get the revolution we are living through. I see folks on social media freaking out over a news story or some influencer hot take, and they miss the big picture. To every Bitcoin holder, I say chill out. Take a deep breath and really understand what you are holding.
This is Bitcoin, a force no one can fully control. Not Trump, not Saylor, not even Satoshi. It doesn't belong to any one person or institution. It belongs to us all, to our era. And we are lucky to be part of this history.
Did you know that in Bitcoin's block 666,666 a powerful verse was etched forever? It says, 'Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.' It is from the Bible, Romans 12:21. Another verse I love is Philippians 4:8: 'Whatever is true, honest, pure, just, lovely, commendable, think about these things.'
I'm not a religious person now, but those messages resonate with me. I believe Bitcoin is the only currency system today that truly represents truth. It is fair, just, transparent. Bitcoin's code is a work of art. Most people in this industry are good folks pushing for financial freedom and giving more people access to fairer wealth tools.
Why Bitcoin will disappoint you (and why that is fine)
So why did I say Bitcoin will disappoint? The real disappointment comes from a mismatch between what Bitcoin can do and what many of us expect from it. It has nothing to do with technical flaws or crashing to zero.
Picture this. One day you are lying in a hospital bed looking back on your life. You won't be thinking about your private keys or if your seed phrase is safe. You will ask yourself: did I care more about likes on a screen or about the real love from my family? Did I waste time chasing a tool instead of making memories? Did I use Bitcoin's freedom to spend more time with my loved ones or to help someone in need, even with something as simple as a meal?
You've never seen a hearse pulling a U-Haul full of wealth, right? When life ends, we take nothing with us, not even our bitcoins.
Bitcoin gives you more free time and a stronger financial foundation if you want. It lets you escape the slow bleed of inflation and rely less on outdated traditional banks. But your life's meaning has to be built separately.
Bitcoin won't tell you how to live a meaningful life. It can't fill the emptiness inside or replace real human connections. I've been in this industry what feels like forever. I've made countless videos, read tons of research, and debated technical details with so many people. The deeper I go, the more I realize that the real answers are not at the bottom of the rabbit hole. It's like the Wizard of Oz: you figure out the magic is often just smoke and mirrors. Fiat systems have their flaws, but Bitcoin is not a cure-all either.
How to hold Bitcoin without losing yourself
So protect your wealth with Bitcoin. That is totally fine. But don't make it your life's ultimate goal. Don't let the price swings decide if you're happy today. I'm happy. I didn't check the price today.
I love a quote from Natalie Brunell, a Bitcoin educator. She said, 'I have never seen anyone buy Apple stocks, Nvidia, or a beach house and say that their life has meaning now, but I know thousands who bought just a little bitcoin and found purpose.' This tool gives you purpose. Those people want to help others, give back, and feel their life is on fire.
I am one of them. I'm enjoying my life here: nature, fresh eggs every morning, and building a better future for me, for my loved ones, for everyone. Bitcoin sparks that hope in a lot of people.
We can now take control of our destiny. The freedom Bitcoin offers should be spent on what matters, not on obsessing over charts.
Bitcoin won't save you, and that is exactly the point
Bitcoin was never designed to save us. That might sound harsh, but it's actually liberating. Its role is to offer you a way out of a broken monetary system, a store of value that can't be inflated away, and a chance to reclaim your time.
I'm Cédric, a decentralization advocate and Bitcoin believer. But after all these years, I've learned that the real value of Bitcoin is the time and freedom it buys, not the number on the screen.
If you hold Bitcoin, hold it as a tool. Use it to build a life you actually want to live, with people you love and work that matters. That is the ultimate lesson from a decade in this space.
